Nancy Spero, an 83 year old American artist, died Sunday in Manhattan. She created art in a "figurative" form, meaning human figures, and used her creations of figures to represent social issues- especially political violence. Some of her art was created using mere paper as the medium. In addition to her Art, Spero was also a heavy feminine rights activist, and was an important member of Women Artists in Revolution based in New York City against "sexist and racist policies in museums". Much of her art revolved around these beliefs, and was focused mainly on women and their roles in society.
