Nancy Spero, an 83 year old American artist, died Sunday in Manhattan. She created art in a "figurative" form, meaning human figures, and used her creations of figures to represent social issues- especially political violence. Some of her art was created using mere paper as the medium. In addition to her Art, Spero was also a heavy feminine rights activist, and was an important member of Women Artists in Revolution based in New York City against "sexist and racist policies in museums".
