Islamic Art Exhibition for British Muslims

A new Islamic art and photography exhibit has gone on show at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London. It features modern art and photography by British Muslim artists. The event showcases Islamic Art, which is an emerging art form.
In Birmingham and London, new opportunities are being created all the time by the emerging artists belonging to the Muslim community.
An official at FCO, Nazish Jalini, who helped to arrange the event said the idea hit her because she's trying to start a Muslim social group and thought that being Ramadan, it would be perfect to show Muslim talent through art.

A Scarcity of Goods Hovers Over Art Market

Art sales are experiencing an upward trend in spite of the recession. Auction house executives in New York have recently found that pieces which aren't actually that valuable are in fact selling for more than they ever have before. For modern and Impressionistic art is becoming increasingly scattered throughout the world or locked up in museums; and apparently it has nothing whatsoever to do with the recession! Some of the not-worth-THAT-much pieces were jokes or sketches done somewhat haphazardly by renowned artists like Duchamp and Pissarro.

O'Keeffe Collection Subject of Controversy

The Georgia O'Keeffe Museum is claiming in court that a gift of the Alfred Stieglitz Collection from Georgia O'Keeffe to Fisk University should belong to the museum. They say that the terms of her donation were that the artwork always be displayed. Fisk, while constructing a new gallery to house the artwork, ran out of money and cannot continue at this time. They say that they will be able to finish the building and display the artwork again soon.
