Picassos stolen in second recent Brazil art heist

Armed robbers entered the Pinacoteca Museum in Sao Paulo. When there they stole four pieces of art. Two of the were by renowned artist Pablo Picasso. The other two were by Brazilian artists.

Gris Sets Record in Slow Christie’s Auction

Even in the light of the sluggish economy some art sells. A painting by Juan Gris made a record of 21 million Us dollars. His painting, "Book, Pipe, and Glasses", was one of several paintings that sold. Unfortunately, this was not for all of the paintings being auctioned. Over 40% were not even sold.

Hirst’s Art Auction Attracts Plenty of Bidders, Despite Financial Turmoil

The artist, Damien Hirst, is selling over 200 different works of at at Sotheby's Auction House. All of the works of art have been made in the last 2 years. There were worries that, due to the economy, the auction would flop. The first half was a general success generating more the 12 million more than what was originally expected.
