Since it is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the art museum at Binghamton University is showing a documentary about women that have survived breast cancer. Other groups that helped and supported this project are the Women's Studies Program and the Latin American Student Union. The main character that is followed in this documentary is an artist named Sonia Baez-Hernandez, who is a breast cancer survivor. This film is intended to show a perspective on breast cancer that is apparently rarely shown, the perspective of African American and Latina women. Since this documentary's creation in 2006, it has received many awards at film festivals in several states. Binghamton University invited the star, Sonia Baez-Hernandez, for their showing, which makes it an even more exciting event.
