Recently, 2 Sienese panels were discovered in a church in England, close to Sheffield. The paintings were never really taken into consideration by the church, but now are valued at 300,000 pounds. These 5 foot tall paintings depict St. Bernardino and an unidentified saint, who is most likely St. James. The panels date back to 15th-century Italy, and were painted by a Sienese artist Sano di Pietro. They remain in fine condition and are now in private display at York City Art Gallery and will be sent on a long term loan to the York Minister, to hang in the treasury. It is most likely that these panels were a donation to the church.
